Call for contributions to a Special Issue on ISSI2019

Call for contributions to a Special Issue on ISSI2019

Dear Author and Participant of the ISSI Conference in Rome,

The organisers of the 17th International Conference on Scientometrics and Informetrics (ISSI2019) and the Editors of the Journal of Data and Information Science (JDIS) are pleased to announce the publication of selected conference posters in a dedicated issue of Journal of Data and Information Science. As you probably already know, JDIS is indexed by ESCI and Scopus.

This special issue will be edited by Giuseppe Catalano, Cinzia Daraio, Jacqueline Leta, Henk F. Moed, Giancarlo Ruocco and Xiaolin Zhang.

Authors of posters accepted and presented at ISSI 2019 are invited to submit a substantially extended version of their contribution no later than 31 January 2020 to the Editorial Manager of the journal. Note that this deadline is stringent. After this date, the special issue will be closed.

The selection criteria are as follows:

 · The poster was accepted at the Conference and has been included in the Conference Proceedings.

 · The text of the contribution is a substantially extended version (at least 50% new material) of the ISSI2019 Conference submission with proper reference to the original proceedings poster.

· The submission is an original contribution and it has not yet been submitted to or published in any other journal.

· The submissions will be reviewed again according to the standards of JDIS.

Authors are asked to organise their manuscript according to the guidelines for contributors as described on the journal’s homepage. Depending on the selected submissions’ length, the issue will admit a selection of about 40 contributions. Therefore, submitted papers should ideally be within 6 pages (including tables, figures and references) but you may submit longer papers if the content merits.

Some submissions might not be selected for the special issue, but could still be accepted for publication in one of the forthcoming regular issues of JDIS. In these cases, the authors will be notified and asked if they wish to do so. Also, authors who have missed the deadline can still publish their paper in a regular issue, provided the papers meet the above criteria and the paper has successfully passed the reviewing process.

In order to submit your manuscript:

1.  Open the journal’s Editorial Manager ( and login as author. If you do not yet have a user name and password, please, register first.

2.  Click on “Submit New Manuscript”.

3.  Choose “Article type”: ‘Others (accompanied by description ‘Special Issue ISSI2019’)’. This is important since your paper will otherwise be reviewed as an ‘ordinary’ paper and, in case of acceptance, be published in a regular issue.

4.  From this point on, submit your paper as you usually do.

We look forward to receiving your submission!

Best regards,

Giuseppe Catalano, Cinzia Daraio, Jacqueline Leta, Henk F. Moed and Giancarlo Ruocco, on behalf of the Conference Programme Committee
